This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, how we use and protect it, and what choices you have. It is written to comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (and the rules made under it), the Information Technology Act, 2000, and other applicable Indian law. It should be read with our Terms of Service and Disclaimer.
1. What We Are, and What We Do Not Do
We are not a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser, Research Analyst, Portfolio Manager or Stock Broker. We do not give personalised investment, financial, legal or tax advice. We do not manage funds, process transactions, open accounts or run KYC. For that reason we never need your bank, demat, PAN, Aadhaar or card details, and we ask you not to send them to us.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us voluntarily
- Newsletter subscription: your email address, if you subscribe to the Investor Souk Newsletter.
- Comments: your display name, and any other information you include in a comment. Comments are public.
- Emails to us: your name, email address and whatever you choose to tell us when you contact us.
Information collected automatically
- Log and device data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device information, referring pages, pages viewed and access times.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used by our hosting platform, analytics and advertising partners (see sections 4 and 5).
We do not collect bank account details, demat details, PAN, Aadhaar, card numbers or transaction history, and we do not knowingly collect any sensitive personal data.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To communicate with you: to send the newsletter and editorial updates you subscribed to, and to reply to your messages.
- To improve the Website: to understand which topics readers find useful, check site performance and improve navigation.
- To keep the Website safe: to prevent spam comments, malicious traffic and unauthorised access.
- To meet legal obligations: where the law requires it.
We do not use your personal data to make automated decisions about you, and we do not use it to give personalised financial advice.
4. Cookies, Analytics and Advertising
The Website may use the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy practices:
- Hosting and infrastructure (Blogger / Google): the Website is hosted on Google's Blogger platform, which processes technical data to deliver the Website and may set cookies.
- Analytics (such as Google Analytics): uses cookies and similar technologies to produce aggregate statistics about visitors and traffic sources. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Advertising (such as Google AdSense): Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can manage personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, and learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services here. You can also opt out of many third-party vendors' personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- Newsletter delivery: your email address is processed by the third-party email service we use to deliver the newsletter.
Controlling cookies: most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Website works. Where you are shown a cookie notice, your choices there will be applied.
5. Affiliate and Referral Links
Some links on the Website may be affiliate or referral links. If you click one, the third-party site may set its own cookies and track the visit so that we can be credited with a commission. We do not receive your personal or financial details from that third party. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies, and the presence of such a link is not an endorsement (see our Disclaimer).
6. Legal Basis for Processing
We process personal data on the following bases:
- Your consent: given when you subscribe to the newsletter, post a comment, email us, or accept cookies where a cookie notice is shown. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate uses permitted by law: for example, responding to a message you sent us, keeping the Website secure and preventing spam, and complying with legal obligations.
7. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information. We share data only in these situations:
- With service providers that help us run the Website, such as hosting, analytics, advertising and email delivery, for those purposes only.
- Where required by law, court order, or a lawful request from a government or law enforcement authority.
- Where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Investor Souk, its readers or others.
8. Data Storage, Retention and Transfers
- Retention: we keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was given. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Emails to us are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request and any follow-up. Public comments remain until removed.
- Where data is processed: our service providers, including Google, may process data on servers located outside India. We use providers that maintain security safeguards, and we handle such transfers in line with applicable law.
9. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal data we hold, including limiting access to it and relying on established platforms. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please never email us passwords, OTPs, or financial account details.
10. Comments Are Public
Anything you write in a comment is visible to other readers and may be indexed by search engines. Please do not include personal, contact or financial details in a comment. You can ask us to remove a comment you posted by writing to us.

The Website is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Your Rights
Under the DPDP Act, 2023, you have the following rights as a Data Principal, subject to the Act and the rules made under it:
- Access: to ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is processed.
- Correction and erasure: to ask us to correct inaccurate data or delete data we no longer need to keep.
- Withdraw consent: to withdraw your consent at any time, for example by using the "Unsubscribe" link in any newsletter. Withdrawal does not affect processing done before it.
- Grievance redressal: to have your complaint about our handling of your data addressed (see section 15).
- Nomination: to nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity.
To exercise any of these rights, write to us at the email address in section 15. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
